Restoration and Conservation
Veneer & Marquetry
Often the surface of more complex furniture can be delicate and vulnerable to wear and damage over time. To solve this, we will re-lay any lifting marquetry, veneer and patch losses, restoring these decorative elements
Outside specialisms and skills
We work with a wide range of outside specialisms and skillsets including: expert upholsterers, cabinet-makers, painting conservators, metal-workers, caners, and building surveyors, ensuring a multi-skilled holistic approach to any complex problem involving multiple elements
Structural Work
Our structural services include re-gluing and reinforcing to ensure structural integrity, allowing it to function as intended, meaning that a chair can be sat on, a chest of drawers can store things, and a book case can be used to house books
Decorative architectural woodwork
We work on a range of interior architectural woodwork, in collaboration with building surveyors, curators and conservators.
Finishing
Pieces often require some level of finishing. This can range from a simple clean and wax to re-polishing. We can provide different finishes as appropriate, including: waxes, oils, varnishes, shellacs, and water-based finishes.
Renewing damaged pieces and sections
If a piece has sustained heavy damage, either through fire or water, or simply through the passage of time, it may require replacement pieces. We can make new sections to match the original shape and carve in patches
We also offer a range of consultancy services
